Sima Thakkar (She/hers) is a Investment Associate at the Raza Development Fund, a national Community Development Financial Institution focused on access to capital for underserved communities. Prior to this role she was a Regional Relationship Manager for PetSmart Charities, a leading funder of animal welfare initiatives in North America. In this role she oversees a grantmaking portfolio for the eastern part of the US, including 16 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. She is an Urban Planner with a Master of Regional Planning degree from Cornell University and over a decade of experience in affordable housing and community development initiatives. Prior to joining PetSmart Charities in 2016, she managed the City of San Diego’s Community Development Programs, including federal programs focused on affordable housing, economic development and homelessness programs.
