Anonymous Extraordinaries in Mesa

Mesa Update
By: Bobby Beverly

August 16th in Mesa was “Anonymous Extraordinaries”, a night where we explored the ways in which the conviction of numerous individuals drives social change, regardless of the fact that most of the people who are part of a movement may never be recognized for their contribution. While the spokes-people usually get all the credit, it is the behind-the-scenes folks who really create change. Lora wanted to remind all of us that following our passion and not our desire for notoriety will be the greatest asset to the movement we want to be a part of, as well as to ourselves. This theme was a perfect complement to the previous week’s (8/9) message of positivity and the effect our attitude has on ourselves and others. Speaking of sustainability, it is our internal strength, peace, and positivity that can have the power to keep us and those around us going in our everyday lives and help us thrive; even in spite of seemingly insurmountable odds.

Before I close, I want to give a shout-out to some of our Mesa youth who performed at the one n ten & Phoenix Pride Jr. Pageant on 8/17. Shane, Patrick, Logan, and Cole, you were all AMAZING! Congrats to Cole and Patrick who will be going on to perform and compete for the title of Ms. Jr. Pride at this year’s Rainbows Fest (10/6 and 10/7/2012). Good Luck! Also, to all of the Mesa and greater one n ten youth heading to camp this month, Lora and I wish you the best of luck. Have fun, learn a lot, and show your PRIDE!
