We are seeking QTBIPOC individuals that are passionate about the outdoors. The Camp OUTdoors Program Manager is responsible for the overall development, implementation and success of all Camp OUTdoors programs. Camp OUTdoors is dedicated to helping LGBTQIA+ youth develop leadership skills, work in collaborative ways, and develop a strong sense of self and community! Under the Camp OUTdoors umbrella of programs is: (2) multi-day overnight summer camp sessions, the Trans & Non-Binary Youth Retreat; a 3-day fall program exclusively for trans and gender expansive youth, and 2gether N Color (2NC) Retreat; a 3-day spring program for BIPOC LGBTQ+ youth, the OUTscouts, a year-round adventure-based group of LGBTQ+ youth, and the Trail Guides, a seasonal camper leadership group for all overnight programs.

The Camp OUTdoors Program Manager position is highly collaborative, working closely with community leaders, organizations and businesses, including subcontractors and vendors, to ensure all program needs and goals are met.  This role requires the Camp OUTdoors Program Manager to excel in working independently, leading a team, building strategic partnerships and having excellent communication skills. The support and development of one∙n∙ten youth and young adults through Camp OUTdoors programs requires the Camp OUTdoors Program Manager to have experience leading outdoor education programs and/or facilitating summer camps, demonstrate excellent risk management skills, have a trauma informed care approach and clear, consistent boundaries.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Oversee operations and facilitation of all Camp OUTdoors programs, including securing dates and negotiating contracts for locations of camps & retreats
  • Arrange all program logistics, coordinate camper and volunteer application and selection processes
  • Enhance and implement risk management and emergency action plans for all Camp OUTdoors programs

  • Oversee OUTscouts backcountry trips, including designing trip logistics, planning activities, and be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of trip participants
  • Ensuring all OUTscouts programs meet all safety standards for outdoor education programs and program being operated in backcountry settings
  • Conduct ongoing virtual and in-person outreach across the state to drive attendance to Camp OUTdoors programs and other one∙n∙ten programs
  • Meet specific benchmarks in serving more youth in Camp OUTdoors programs, specifically increasing the total number of youth served through programs
  • Work with the VP of Programs & Strategy and other key staff on strategic expansion of Camp OUTdoors program offerings
  • Build and maintain partner relationships, with a special focus of engaging organizations that serve BIPOC youth to ensure the support of LGBTQIA+ youth across Arizona
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and utilize program evaluation tools for each program

The Training Manager is responsible for developing, managing, marketing and delivering one∙n∙ten  LGBTQ+ inclusion trainings to outside community organizations and members. This role manages a team of Training Program Specialists to help deliver one∙n∙ten trainings.

The Training Program Manager position is highly collaborative, working closely with community leaders, organizations and businesses, and other one∙n∙ten program staff to ensure all training program needs and goals are met.  This role requires the Training Program Manager to excel in working independently, leading a team, building strategic partnerships, developing branded materials, and having excellent communication skills. The support and development of one∙n∙ten youth and young adults requires the Training Program Manager to have experience working with youth and have a trauma informed care approach and clear, consistent boundaries.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Oversee the operations of all one∙n∙ten trainings offered to community organizations and businesses.

Conduct outreach to businesses and organizations, events and conferences, and more, informing community members of the need for LGBTQ+ inclusion trainings.

Brand and market training program and materials that bring in new businesses to the training program.

Arrange all training program logistics, including scheduling trainings, writing contracts, and negotiating costs of trainings.

The ideal candidate has lived experience reflective of the population we serve. The position is responsible for program development, including extensive knowledge of and issues affecting LGBTQ+, BIPOC and Trans/Non-binary youth and young adults.

The primary focus of the Youth Center Program Associate is to assist in the success of the Youth Center by being present in the center and engaging with youth and young adults. This role will work 3-4 shifts a week as needed. This role will also have responsibilities to create engaging programs, support in youth center events, and outreach needs. The possible shifts this role will be scheduled for include:

  • Opening Front Desk- 8am-2:30pm Greet anyone coming to the youth center for school, tours, etc. Maintain the front desk area and youth center space.
  • Closing Front Desk- 2:30pm-7pm Greet all youth entering the center and enter all attendance and reporting documents for the evening.
  • Program Lead- 2:30pm -7pm Plan and lead the program for the evening. This role is also responsible for preparing all needed materials for the program
  • Program Support- 2:30pm –7pm Helping with all youth and program lead needs in the center. This person is responsible for making food available for youth and maintaining cleanliness of the space.

  • Perform related and delegated tasks to assist and support Youth Center programs and services to meet the organization’s goals.
  • Oversee proper record keeping and reporting, including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements, and any problems/issues.
  • Assist in data entry/management of participant database and other data collection methods.
  • Take pride and ownership in the youth center facility; ensure cleaning and facility maintenance is per standard.
  • Participate in special events including Phoenix Pride, Rainbows Festival, holiday events, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Experience in positive youth development and trauma informed care-based program development & implementation.

Demonstrated experience collaborating with diverse volunteers, staff, community partners, sponsors, and other stakeholders.

Proven experience in program development & implementation to benefit diverse populations of youth and young adults.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with people at all levels and in all settings relevant to the organization’s mission.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage your own schedule, multi-task with confidence and meet multiple deadlines.

Ability to work independently at times and as part of a highly collaborative professional team with enthusiasm and commitment.

CORE COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES:

  • GED, High School Diploma or Equivalent, plus some additional training or education demonstrating a commitment to learning.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working or volunteering in human services, youth development or a LGBTQ+ focused nonprofit
  • Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm and positive attitude.
  • Understand, value and respect diversity in all forms, including diversity within the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse volunteers, staff, community leaders, organizations, sponsors and their stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, and maintain confidentiality when required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR & First Aid certifications.
  • Must be able to meet requirements to pass a Criminal Background Check and receive and maintain a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Ability to work 3-4 evenings per week and weekends as needed.
  • Proficiency in computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Database and email and a working understanding of internet search functionality.
  • Ability to safely lift 40 lbs.

SCHEDULE: Non-exempt part-time, as needed & required by the position, including occasional night/weekend work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS: Standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, stretching and able to lift 40 lbs. without issue.

TRAVEL: Ability & willingness to drive your own reliable vehicle to travel to various locations. Mileage reimbursement is available.

REQUIRED Position Qualifications

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: GED, High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Significant work experience in coaching youth and developing programs for youth.

Ideal candidate has lived experience reflective of the population we serve including extensive knowledge of and issues affecting LGBTQ+ and BIPOC youth.

Strong computer skills required, including use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Social Media platforms, and database systems.

Familiarity with Salesforce database/CMS systems a plus.

Good judgment, discretion, confidentiality.

Experience working with diverse committees and volunteer leadership a plus.

Involvement and/or knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community &/or non-profit organizations preferred.
