one•n•ten is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving and assisting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth ages 14 to 24. From weekly discussion groups to fun, social networking events, we create a safe space, mentally and physically, for youth of all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. We also offer resources to promote healthy choices and living. Youth with needs have the option to speak with peers or volunteers one-on-one, in a supervised setting. We provide youth with a variety of tools and opportunities to improve self-esteem and self-acceptance.

MISSION: To serve LGBTQ+ youth and young adults ages 11-24. We enhance their lives by providing empowering social and service programs that promote self-expression, self-acceptance, leadership development, and healthy life choices.
Job Summary & Essential Functions/Responsibilities/Duties
The Program Director will direct and oversee key one·n·ten programs including the Youth Centers, and POND Housing and Workforce Program.
The Program Director is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment, advocating for the unique needs of LGBTQ+ individuals, and fostering a sense of community within the Youth Centers and POND program.
The Program Director ensures these programs and services are delivered efficiently and effectively. This role includes managing staff, developing programmatic strategies, and working closely with the Vice President of Programs and Strategy, CEO, and Senior Leadership team to implement the organization’s mission and vision.
The Program Director will play a critical role in fostering a positive, inclusive environment for both staff and the youth we serve. This position requires the Director to excel in working independently, leading teams, have excellent feedback and communication skills and be highly collaborative and organized. The support and development of one∙n∙ten’s youth require the Director be highly versed in positive youth development frameworks, executed through a trauma informed care approach as well as excellent risk management skills and clear and consistent boundaries.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Downtown Youth Center, POND Housing and Workforce programs, and support in the development and opening of the East Valley Youth Center
- Work collaboratively to conceptualize and lead the team in developing program goals and outcomes that support LGBTQ+ youth and ensure strategic alignment with annual budget and organizational goals
- Develop and supervise management staff, providing consistent feedback, ongoing coaching, development planning, continued training and conduct annual reviews. Indirectly support the management of program staff that report to those you manage
- Recruit, interview and select well-qualified program staff
- Oversee the management of the Salesforce database of youth specific information, data, and attendance logs. Ensure compliance with local, state & federal laws and organization polices to safeguard information
- Oversee record keeping and reporting including activities conducted, breakdowns of participation, notable achievements/challenges and monitor measures of success. Including working within HMIS and Salesforce
- Ensuring appropriate conduct, safety and development of participants
- Oversee, develop, and evaluate engaging age-appropriate group activities, on topics such as: health and wellness, Evidence Based Interventions, housing, workforce, team building, leadership development, suicide prevention, and other programs that align with the organization’s values and goals
- Revise and implement evaluation program, allowing for continual feedback from youth and staff, to ensure programs/activities respond to youth needs
- Participate in special events including: Phoenix Pride, Rainbows Festival, holiday events, Fresh Brunch, Dancing For one∙n∙ten, etc.
Financial Management:
- Assist in the development and management of the organization’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability
- Monitor and report on financial performance, including managing expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership team and development team to develop and implement fundraising strategies
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Represent one∙n∙ten in media and community events that promote awareness and engagement with one∙n∙ten programs and services
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community partners, donors, and volunteers
- Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth-serving organizations, educational partners, volunteers, parents, families, and community organizations
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive experience in positive youth development and trauma informed care-based program development, implementation and evaluation
- Ability to successfully build and manage programs and maintain a community space, including and ensuring the space maintains physical safety standards and is appealing to a diverse range of youth/young adults.
- Strong knowledge of homeless systems of care in Maricopa Country as well as resources and referrals for supportive programs for youth experiencing homelessness and those seeking employment opportunities
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and LGBTQ+ identities
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to housing, homelessness, and LGBTQ+ rights and protections
- Significant work experience adopting trauma informed care practices to programs that are youth focused
- Ability to develop a framework for evaluations and guidelines designed to assist clinician support the mental health needs for youth and young adults
- As a dynamic leader, the Program Director will develop an environment and culture that ensures that participants, volunteers, and staff thrive
Schedule:
Exempt full-time, as needed & required by the position, including night/weekend work
Physical Requirements/Demands: Standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, stretching and able to lift 40lbs without issue.
Travel: Ability & willingness to drive reliable personal vehicle as needed. Mileage reimbursement is available
Background Check: Willingness to take and pass a background check and obtain a Federal Fingerprint Clearance Card
Position Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in social services, nonprofit management, social work, homeless/housing programs or similar field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in youth program management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Work-related experience with housing programs for homeless individuals and/or workforce development sectors
- Proven management experience in successfully coaching staff in program development & implementation to benefit diverse populations of youth and young adults
- Knowledge in best practices in housing solutions for unhoused youth, and workforce programs
- Expereince in operating a youth center or community space
- Proven experience in developing & leading resilience-based programs for youth & young adults
- Extensive knowledge of youth development protocols, challenges, solutions, intervention strategies, and constructive communication techniques
- Strong understanding of nonprofit financial management, including budgeting and fundraising
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with nonprofit management software
Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish, pay differential available based on proven fluency
