one•n•ten is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving and assisting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth ages 14 to 24. From weekly discussion groups to fun, social networking events, we create a safe space, mentally and physically, for youth of all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. We also offer resources to promote healthy choices and living. Youth with needs have the option to speak with peers or volunteers one-on-one, in a supervised setting. We provide youth with a variety of tools and opportunities to improve self-esteem and self-acceptance.

JOB SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
We are seeking QTBIPOC individuals that are passionate about the outdoors. The Camp OUTdoors Program Manager is responsible for the overall development, implementation and success of all Camp OUTdoors programs. Camp OUTdoors is dedicated to helping LGBTQIA+ youth develop leadership skills, work in collaborative ways, and develop a strong sense of self and community! Under the Camp OUTdoors umbrella of programs is: (2) multi-day overnight summer camp sessions, the Trans & Non-Binary Youth Retreat; a 3-day fall program exclusively for trans and gender expansive youth, and 2gether N Color (2NC) Retreat; a 3-day spring program for BIPOC LGBTQ+ youth, the OUTscouts, a year-round adventure-based group of LGBTQ+ youth, and the Trail Guides, a seasonal camper leadership group for all overnight programs. The Camp OUTdoors Program Manager position is highly collaborative, working closely with community leaders, organizations and businesses, including subcontractors and vendors, to ensure all program needs and goals are met. This role requires the Camp OUTdoors Program Manager to excel in working independently, leading a team, building strategic partnerships and having excellent communication skills. The support and development of one∙n∙ten youth and young adults through Camp OUTdoors programs requires the Camp OUTdoors Program Manager to have experience leading outdoor education programs and/or facilitating summer camps, demonstrate excellent risk management skills, have a trauma informed care approach and clear, consistent boundaries.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Oversee operations and facilitation of all Camp OUTdoors programs, including securing dates and negotiating contracts for locations of camps & retreats
- Arrange all program logistics, coordinate camper and volunteer application and selection processes
- Enhance and implement risk management and emergency action plans for all Camp OUTdoors programs
- Lead program committees comprised of youth, staff, and/or volunteers for the Trans and Non-Binary Retreat and 2gether N Color Retreat
- Identify and work with collaborative community partners. Oversee regular outreach to schools, businesses, and community organizations to promote both camp volunteer opportunities and youth specific programming
- Manage grants and achieve deliverables, including creating reports related to Camp OUTdoors programs
- Work collaboratively with the VP of Programs & Strategy, Communications Director and Camp Program Specialist to conceptualize and deliver resilience-based programs that support Arizona youth and ensure strategic alignment with annual budget and program goals
- Oversee OUTscouts backcountry trips, including designing trip logistics, planning activities, and be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of trip participants
- Ensuring all OUTscouts programs meet all safety standards for outdoor education programs and program being operated in backcountry settings
- Conduct ongoing virtual and in-person outreach across the state to drive attendance to Camp OUTdoors programs and other one∙n∙ten programs
- Meet specific benchmarks in serving more youth in Camp OUTdoors programs, specifically increasing the total number of youth served through programs
- Work with the VP of Programs & Strategy and other key staff on strategic expansion of Camp OUTdoors program offerings
- Build and maintain partner relationships, with a special focus of engaging organizations that serve BIPOC youth to ensure the support of LGBTQIA+ youth across Arizona
- Conduct ongoing assessments and utilize program evaluation tools for each program
- Supervise, train and coach Camp Program Specialist and camp staff (one∙n∙ten staff & volunteers) in the successful delivery of programs
- Develop and manage program budgets
- Oversee proper record keeping and reporting, including monitoring activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, and notable achievements and areas for improvement. This includes working within CampDoc and Salesforce regularly.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in various special events, which may include Phoenix Pride, Rainbows Festival, holiday events, Fresh Brunch, etc.
- Deliver programming in-person at Youth Center, satellites, or online, on average 1-2 shifts per week
- Supervise and provide support to future camp related interns
- Assist with grants/funding opportunities related to Camp OUTdoors programs
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Obtain & maintain Wilderness First Responder Certification, ACA Camp Director course and other safety certifications as deemed necessary for the activities being conducted
- Strong knowledge of outdoor programming and risk management in outdoor settings
- Extensive experience in positive youth development and engagement through trauma informed care-based approaches
- Proven experience in staff management & large-scale program development, and/or event planning, and implementation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including facilitating large group and small group conversations and programs
- Exceptional attention to detail and proven organizational skills; ability to multi-task with confidence and meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently at times and as part of a highly collaborative professional team with enthusiasm and commitment.

- Simultaneously work on multiple projects and quickly switch gears as needed
- Adapt to changes within the workplace & during the planning and execution of programs
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
SCHEDULE: Exempt full-time, as needed & required by the position, including occasional night/weekend work
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS: Standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, stretching and able to lift 40lbs without issue.
TRAVEL: Ability & willingness to drive your own reliable vehicle, as well as occasionally a work vehicle, to travel to various program sites throughout the state as needed. Mileage reimbursement is available for use of your personal vehicle.
Position Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in outdoor education/recreation, adventure education, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience working in management-level leadership positions, ideally at a residential camp and/or outdoor education/recreation program
- 3-5 years of experience in a management/supervisory role
- Significant work experience adopting trauma informed care practices to programs that are youth focused
- Track record in coaching youth, developing youth programs and working within summer camp programs or outdoor programs
- Proven management experience in coaching and developing staff in program development & implementation to benefit diverse populations of youth and young adults
- Strong software skills required, including use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to multi-task with confidence and multiple deadlines
- Experience working with diverse and inclusive committees
- Reliable personal transportation, including current registration and insurance coverage
- Current Fingerprint Clearance card, or ability to obtain and maintain one

- Bilingual in English and Spanish, pay differential available based on proven fluency
- Individuals that reflect the demographic of the youth we serve who identify in the QTBIPOC community
- Experience working with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC youth in a programmatic setting
