How we started.
Founded in 1993 by a group of volunteers, one·n·ten has been a beacon of hope for LGBTQ+ youth in Arizona for over 3 decades. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth, one·n·ten began offering essential support through group meetings and resources. Over the years, one·n·ten has grown alongside the needs of LGBTQ+ youth and young adults, expanding our programs and reach. From humble beginnings, one·n·ten has become a statewide leader in fostering safe spaces and empowering LGBTQ+ youth.
As our story continues to unfold, one thing remains constant: our unwavering dedication to empowering LGBTQ+ youth to thrive and reach their full potential.
How we have grown.
Starting small, one·n·ten offered a lifeline to LGBTQ+ youth in Arizona, providing essential support and resources. Recognizing the growing need, programs expanded, offering events, mentorship, and crucial resources for health and self-discovery.
From a single meeting space in a local church, one·n·ten blossomed with the opening of a youth center; however, the journey didn’t stop there. Satellite sites sprouted across Arizona, reaching LGBTQ+ youth in underserved communities and strengthening our statewide impact. Today, one·n·ten offers comprehensive programs that address mental health, leadership development, and educational opportunities. Our growth has extended to advocating for policy change, creating a ripple effect of positive change across Arizona.
Where we are today.
one·n·ten is more than just a place; it’s a vibrant community for LGBTQ+ youth in Arizona. Our Downtown Phoenix Youth Center is a hub of activity, offering events, activities, and a safe space for connection. Across the state, satellite sites provide local support networks. We believe in the power of collective action. That’s why one·n·ten is also a force for positive change. We advocate for inclusive policies, educate communities, and empower youth to advocate for themselves.
Where we are going.
Looking ahead, we’re committed to expanding our reach even further. We envision a future with satellite sites in every corner of the state and a second youth center in the East Valley, ensuring no LGBTQ+ youth feels alone or isolated. Ultimately, one·n·ten is working towards an Arizona where all LGBTQ+ youth thrive, are celebrated for their unique identities, and are empowered to lead.
