Scottsdale one•n•ten is our newest satellite group. In an effort to encourage our youth to get to know each other better, we have been doing a lot of ice-breakers, get-to-know-you games, and activities that allow them to interact freely. On Wednesday, March 12th, everyone took turns sharing personal coming-out stories with the group. Stories varied from funny to sad to very intense. We decided to follow up that more serious evening with a night of board games and socializing on March 19th. Youth split into groups of 3-6 people and chose various group games to play.

The following is a summary of our night, written by 14-year-old Annaka D.

At one•n•ten today we had a really great game night. This was a great night to get comfortable with people you don’t know. You got to pick which games you could play and anyone who wanted could play it. My game was called “I’ve Never.”  It consisted of 7 total minutes of dancing, movement, and a lot of friendship.  This game gave you a chance to be who you are and do what you want and laugh. There’s no question to whether I love this game or not. I surely did. It brought us together not just as a community but as a family. This is something I am proud to be a part of and these sessions will help you get comfortable with yourself. It helps you experience things you never thought you would. I am proud to say I am part of one•n•ten and it is part of me.

Scottsdale one•n•ten group is a growing group. We are very proud of our insightful and intelligent youth who show up each week and courageously share their stories and their hearts with us!
