The one•n•ten YES Program, established in 2014 to connect LGBTQ youth with workforce development skills.
When connected with YES, youth who are subject to resource limitations and discrimination learn self-care and job skills, build confidence, and identify personal and professional goals. Youth can participate in a single YES workshop or several of them. We encourage our youth to participate in as many workshops as possible and connect them with LGBTQ‑friendly employers for interviews and potential job placement. The YES curriculum encompasses a variety of topics including setting and achieving goals, financial literacy, resume building and interview skills.
one·n·ten and its community partners work together to provide skills training and job placement opportunities. Our partners include Cox Charities, Synchrony Financial, Fry’s Food Stores, Liberty Tax, Bloom 365, Terros, Arizona Center for Youth Resources, Phoenix Community College and Burton Barr Library.
Some exciting results:
- Last year, 101 youth attended one or more YES workshops. Total attendance was 403 youth.
- Eighty-three percent (83%) of participants demonstrated increased knowledge after completing a workshop with some workshops having as high as a 96% increase.
