Sources of Strength Suicide Prevention

2 hours • 2 presenters

  • The Sources of Strength model is a holistic approach to suicide prevention that utilizes the power of social networks to change unhealthy norms and culture to ultimately prevent suicide, bullying and harmful behaviors. The program is designed to prevent suicide by increasing help-seeking behaviors and connections between individuals with a focus on Hope, Help and Strength. Sources of Strength takes a different approach in suicide prevention by moving beyond a singular focus on risk factors through building multiple sources of support around individuals so that when times get hard they have strengths to rely on.

Trans Inclusion & Identities

2 hours • 2 presenters

  • Our Trans Inclusion & Identities training focuses on efforts to challenge transphobia and to foster environments that are inclusive of gender identity and gender expression, and the intersections within those identities. People who identify as trans or gender nonconforming often experience barriers to accessing necessary services due to discrimination or harassment based on their gender identity and gender expression. This workshop explores the experiences and challenges faced by trans people and promotes practices within organizations and individuals to develop approaches to fostering a trans inclusive environment. We will also highlight the small and larger steps individuals can take personally and within their organizations to create more inclusive and celebratory spaces and services for trans-identified individuals.
