Life Skills, Education & Workforce Readiness

Y.E.S. (Youth Education & Success) Program:

  • Offered at Satellite Sites & the Youth Center
    1. Life skills classes: Goal setting, cooking classes, communication development, etc.
    2. Workforce readiness classes: Resume writing, applications, workplace conflict, etc.
    3. Financial Literacy classes: Opening a bank account, budgeting, savings, etc.
    4. Coaching on jobs/schooling

Synchrony Financial: Financial literacy & job seeking

Burton Barr Library: Job seeking workshops

Some exciting results:

  • Last year, 101 youth attended one or more YES workshops. Total attendance was 403 youth.
  • Eighty-three percent (83%) of participants demonstrated increased knowledge after completing a workshop with some workshops having as high as a 96% increase.

QBLC (Q Blended Learning Center) Program:

  • Monday-Friday 8 am- 4 pm @ the Youth Center
    1. Tuition free, in person, online public school
    2. High School Diploma, not GED
    3. College and career assistance
    4. 1 on 1 tutoring available
    5. Educational field trips
    6. Afterschool programing via the Youth Center
    7. Free lunch & snacks from the Youth Center

They have two online schools in which to enroll their child: Arizona Virtual Academy (AZVA) or Insight Academy of Arizona (ISAZ). Once enrolled, they can have the option of attending the QBLC during the day to complete their coursework.
