Public Ally
Beatrice Velazquez has always wanted to be a positive and giving member of her community. Throughout her time in school, she was a member of a variety of different social justice organizations in Tucson, where she grew up. During her sophomore year of college, Bea lived in Paris, France for six months where she studied French literature and language. It was during this period of time when she began to see the connections between social issues affecting different populations and countries around the world, and realized she wanted to dedicate herself to non-profit work, specifically with youth.
Bea has joined the one n ten team as the new Americorps Public Ally. A recent graduate of Arizona State University, Bea decided to stay in Phoenix in hopes of learning more about the non-profit world and gaining more experience serving youth. Receiving the opportunity to become a public ally has opened a new door, full of eye-opening and gratifying experiences. She is very excited to be working at such an amazing organization, and looks forward to continue her growth and personal development as a part of the one n ten team.
